Discover Hawaii with Tavita on Oahu Island Tour Feb 2008 as he sings Blue Hawaii (pronounced Ha Va ee)

Tavita is an awesome driver but he was quite happy since he had a 4 day weekend off from work after dropping us off at our hotel. We started out visiting Pearl Harbor and then proceeded around the island of Oahu, visiting Nu’uanu Pali Lookout State Park, awesome view looking out at Chinaman’s Hat… then this video was captured at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, where you can see Humpback Whales during the winter months. Total of 10 stops - Dole Plantation, North Shore (Surfing), Laniola, Ka A Awa Valley, Tropical Farms, Ko Olau for Lunch, Nuuana Pali Lookout, Halona Blowhole, Hanauma Bay… 120 mile island tour, an all day event worth every penny…

私の手紙が~!美貴様に読まれた!

posted by admin in October 1st, 2008
in Cheap Aloha Tickets   Tags: Sammi,

English summary of letter courtesy of H!O

http://www.hello-online.org/index.php?act=helloonline&CODE=spotlight&topic=176#spot

OK, people who don’t understand Japanese have been asking me to explain.
In the video response to this, I have a somewhat cryptic video. In my Spring Break, Morning Musume (famous Japanese pop girl group which I’m a huge fan of) came to HI for their fan club tour. Since these tours are only for the fan club members from Japan, and sold as a package from Japan, others cannot buy tickets, even locals in HI. But their big concert was at Waikiki Shell, an outdoor arena. So me and a few other fans from JPM and H!O (message boards) who knew the details literally camped out outside and watched the concert from a distance, and before the concert I tried to talk security and the Japanese staff into letting me in and I could be a translator, but no go. But after the concert the security guard took pity on us and tried to let us in for the handshaking event. But then the Japanese staff sent us back out. But then we stayed outside and waited until the girls were finished their photoshoot and waited to see them get into their buses and leave. (I left early though)
But then I went online, and decided to write a letter to their radio shows. Miki (the new leader after Yossi graduated) and Sayumi. My letter got read on Miki’s show.
She reads “Aloha from Hawaii! I’m an American girl, and a huge fan of Morning Musume. When everyone was in Hawaii (she makes fun of my “cute” Japanese here) me and a few other fans stood outside the Shell and watched your concert. Afterwards, during the handshake event, we tried to get in, but were sent out again. But then we waited for everyone to come out afterwards, and we were very happy just to get to see you a little bit. Because there are a lot of fans in Hawaii too, next time you come to Hawaii, I want you to sell tickets to us too. I’m looking forward to the debut of the new Chinese members, and looking forward to seeing Miki as leader.” And then she says “now that she says that, after the concerts the fan club is usually sent back to their hotels on the buses, but after we were done our photoshoots and went to go back, there were some fans still there and I thought ‘wow, there are still fans here’ and now I think that they were probably Sammi and the others. And about the fans in Hawaii, if there are really that many of you, I will say to Tsunku-san…well, if I just say it…but anyway, I’ll try to see what I can do.”
So I had my letter read by a Morning Musume member to the Morning Musume fans. I also had my Japanese made fun of, but still, it was a great feeling.

Enjoying A Hawaiian Vacation in Kauai

posted by admin in October 1st, 2008
in Hawaii island tours

Kauai Hawaii is a wonderful place to visit and vacation as visitors can attest to as they return again and again. All of Hawaii is magnificent in its own right, however there is something special in Kauai.

Here are some of the fun things to do while you vacation on Kauai. Enjoy one or all whatever you feel like doing. Remember your on vacation after all!

One of the fun things to do on Kauai is to take the river cruise up the Wailua River. This is one of the most popular activities on Kauai. This cruise goes to Fern Grotto and allows visitors to experience the magnificent beauty of Kauai. Plus they provide different forms of entertainment and fun for everyone that takes this cruise. There are a number of tour companies that take visitors up the Wailua River in motorized boats that provide a variety of entertainment along the way.

For those vacationing in the fall and winter don’t miss the humpback whales that come to Kauai for the warmer waters. The whales travel from Alaska to Hawaii to mate and nurse their young in the warm waters.

There are many whale sighting excursions available and some even guarantee that you will see the whales during certain time periods or the trip is free. Now don’t be discouraged if you don’t wish to book a tour to see the whales. During the fall and winter the whale population is so great that you will also be able to see them off the shores of Kauai.

A family event is to enjoy the Kauai Discovery Museum. This is a must for children of all ages and those adults who are still young at heart. The Discovery Museum allows everyone to learn by way of a hands on method. So enjoy the exhibits and then walk over to the starlight planetarium for another great show.

If you are a nature lover at heart then a visit to the Na Pali Coast is a must do activity. This is a non vehicle traffic area that boasts a lush natural environment for those who want to view the lush greens of the area. You can choose to tour the Na Pali Coast by foot or water. There are several hiking trails that you can follow along the coast if that is what you are interested in.

If you would prefer to see the Na Pali Coast by water you can do so by motorboat, kayak or catamaran. There are also many group tours of the area that you can join that also include many amenities.

Another great adventure you can join on Kauai is to see an authentic Luau. The Luau is a combination of a dinner, dance and music. When you join the Luau you will be feasting upon huli-huli chicken and haupia. As you feast you will be able to watch the mystical dances and songs of your Luau Hosts.

Now not surprising is the fact that Kauai also has some magnificent golf courses for those who wish to play. There are a multitude of top rated golf courses right on the Island. Puakea Golf Course is just one of the finer courses to visit and play. The views as well as the courses are well worth your time.

Kauai has a little bit of everything for everyone whether you wish to tour, dine, golf or swim. The hardest thing you will come across on Kauai is how to fit everything in to your vacation time schedule. Enjoy!

How To Find Your Cheap Cruise Adventure

posted by admin in October 1st, 2008
in Cheaper Hawaii tickets

Most of us think that cruise lines are way out of our price range. We envision formal dining and entertainment, rich couples drinking expensive champagne and handsomely appointed staterooms that cost thousands of dollars a night. And while there are expensive luxuries offered on cruise voyages, finding a cheap cruise adventure is well within reach of most people. To find a cheap cruise adventure, the first thing that you need to do is shop around. Important considerations such as departure and destination points need to be considered as well.

The best places to start gathering research for a cheap cruise adventure are on the Internet. Check out traveling websites such as Travelocity and Orbitz and the like and start printing out information. Where do you want to go? Alaska or Hawaii? Somewhere more exotic, like South America, or Australia or the Far East? First decide where you want to go and then start pricing different cruise lines. Cruise lines are in the business of taking passengers to wonderful locations, and if they weren’t affordable, they’d soon go out of business. Passengers can find luxurious shipboard appointments if they have a bottomless wallet, but so can the average tourist on a budget.

Take, for example a cruise line in the United States. Carnival and Pacific cruise lines offer passenger accommodations at around $200 a night for three to four day journeys to the Bahamas, Baja California and the Caribbean. This ‘cheap cruise’ fare is not cheap in the sense that you won’t be able to access the perks that other passengers are receiving. Far from it. This price includes just as many amenities and perks as any other passenger enjoys. Of course, the longer the journey, the more expensive it can get, but also keep in mind that most passenger voyage tickets include everything from room and board, dining, onboard entertainment, use of fitness rooms, swimming pools and any other activities provided while on board, and even may include tickets to any sightseeing venues off the ship while in certain ports of call. When looking for a cheap cruise ticket, make sure that you know what is included and what isn’t in the price of a per person ticket.

No matter which kind of a cheap cruise line ticket you’re looking for, remember to read the fine print. Many cruise lines require double occupancy for the prices quoted. Some also require that anyone under the age of 21 must share a room with someone who is at least 21 years of age. Comparison shopping for a cheap cruise line ticket won’t take very long, and you’ll more than likely be surprised at the number of good deals you can find. Just remember that a cheap cruise doesn’t mean that you’ll be bunking down in the boiler room. Do be advised however, that the cheaper your ticket, the lower in the ship your room will be located, so keep that in mind when booking rooms. A cheap cruise find is a rewarding payoff to a little homework.

Plane tickets to Hawaii…cheap?

posted by admin in October 1st, 2008
in Cheaper Hawaii tickets

I'm looking to fly to Hawaii around Thanksgiving and tickets are REALLY expensive. I know I am going to be paying a little more, but is there anyway to get cheaper tickets? I have checked expedia and bookingbuddy and hawaiian air. We're going to have Thanksgiving with a friend whose husband is in the Navy. Can she get cheaper tickets anyway?!

My parents rode on Hawaiian airlines. If you book ahead anywhere you will save. Also Hawaii right now is only in the 70's and it rains their more then it rains here. If you are looking for a tropical paradise you might want to hit up Mexico..cheap..hot anytime of year. But in my opinion I would stay away from that part of the world

Its a LONG flight and I wouldn't suggest going to Hawaii or Maui Everyone goes their. Waikiki beach is NASTY. That's just what I have heard from everyone who has done their. I guess it depends what scene you are looking for. Hit up Kauai though it is the most beautiful island of them all and has the least amount of people. But if you are considering going now I wouldn't recommend it. Its Hurricane season Nov-Jan. My Dad's friend Barb lives on Kauai and it could ruin your experience their. Just a thought tho :)

OH and by the way I have heard REALLLLY bad things about expedia.com They MESSED UP my friends honeymoon vacation to Jamacia. Over charged them and messed the reservations up. Book everything yourself if you do it..

If i'm going to be staying at the Big Island in Hawaii, can I visit/Travel to Maui or any other island?

posted by admin in October 1st, 2008
in Hawaii island tours

If so how? Drive or do they have tours I we can go on? Is the Big Island good to stay on?

The only way that you can visit other islands from the Big Island is via interisland plane service. Check out Hawaiian, Pacific Wings, Go, or Island Air as thouse will offer you the best flight service options and prices.

Be warned however that with the bankruptcy of Aloha Airlines, interisland travel is VERY expensive and a trip to another island will most likely run you about $150 round trip for airfare alone.

Hope that helps…..happy travels!

Things to do in Oahu on a limited budget??

posted by admin in October 1st, 2008
in Cheaper Things to do on Oahu

Hello, going to Oahu 05/23 to 05/26. Won the trip through work and will be on a very limited budget? Its me and wife. Looking for cheap fishing charters, snorkeling, fun stuff.
will also have rental car

First and foremost…whatever you do…DO NOT buy anything is Waikiki…Expensive!! You should take advantage of our Bus system!! It will take you anywhere you want to go!!

Hanauma Bay will be a great place to go and snorkel!! I believe it will be about $12 for the both of you!! It is an experience in itself and will probably consume the whole day!! Arizona Memorial is FREE but you need to be there early as possible!! You can take a shuttle for around $6 a person or just take the Bus again!! It's $2 per person and they start running around 5am!! And plan to spend the day there and what a way to get a piece of HISTORY!!

As far as food, you might want to take a trip to a grocery store and buy food that you can take with you on these little get aways to save you some money!! Food at these places are expensive!! Or you can ask your BUS driver where a good place would be to eat and they will be more than happy to help you out with that!!

Have FUN!! :)
